Update: Public Records Detail 2018 DUI Arrest and Raise New Questions About Credibility

New reporting based on public records and sworn deposition testimony has added significant detail to the March 6, 2018 arrest of Sarah Hornbeck in Charles County, Maryland. Records obtained through Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA) requests—including CAD dispatch logs, police incident reports, and use-of-force documentation—show that the incident involved erratic driving, a crash, suspected drug-and-alcohol impairment, resistance to arrest, escape from handcuffs during transport, and a physical struggle with officers.

Court records confirm Hornbeck ultimately entered a guilty plea and received probation before judgment (PBJ), avoiding a formal conviction. However, a recently obtained deposition transcript in Reichert v. Hornbeck reveals that Hornbeck admitted under oath to the arrest and plea while previously denying those same facts in her own legal filings, raising questions about consistency and credibility in ongoing litigation.

This reporting is part of an ongoing investigation into the broader record and its relevance to custody proceedings, judicial outcomes, and claims raised in federal court. Additional records—including video evidence and related criminal filings—are pending.
