Jeff’s mission goes beyond personal justice. He is determined to expose Maryland’s broken family court system as a warning to others and a spark for national reform. His case is a story about truth, power, retaliation—and the cost of telling the truth.
1. The Human Cost of Corruption
“Look what happens when you’re just trying to tell the truth. Look what happened to me. Look what happened to my son.”
Jeff’s story is, at heart, his son Grant’s story. A child caught in an abusive system, living in an allegedly unsafe environment, suffering from trauma, and cut off from his father despite court orders.
2. Systemic Corruption
Jeff claims that Maryland’s family court system is infected with favoritism, retaliation, and financial incentives that override the best interests of children. He names judges, lawyers, custody evaluators, and even political insiders as part of a larger network of influence where connections matter more than the law.
3. Targeting Fathers
Jeff believes the system is especially cruel to fathers—treating them as disposable, vilifying them based on gender, and bankrupting them emotionally and financially. He’s not alone; his campaign is meant to give voice to thousands of other silenced fathers.
4. The Hornbeck Factor
Central to his case is Sarah Hornbeck, the mother of Grant. Jeff alleges she suffers from severe mental illness, including Borderline Personality Disorder, and has engaged in child abuse, drug use, lying, and behavior that endangers Grant. He believes illegal actions have been taken to protect her and silence him.
5. Retaliation and Injustice
Jeff has filed lawsuits, ADA complaints, and appeals. He’s been met with retaliation, arrest warrants, gag orders, and denial after denial. He argues that truth-tellers are punished, and wrongdoers protected, because exposing the truth would unravel too many powerful interests.
6. A Blueprint for Reform
Jeff isn’t just telling his story—he’s building a movement. Through his upcoming book, federal lawsuit, and projects like the Rebuilt Justice Project, Jeff aims to create a support infrastructure for others trapped in the family court system. He wants people to learn from his case and fight back smarter.
He is working with ghostwriters and researchers to turn his experience into a book, and ultimately, a film. All proceeds and attention will be used to fuel advocacy, not personal gain.
“I’m bulletproof when I speak, because I have nothing to hide. I’ve got every document. Every transcript. Every lie, and every time they ignored the truth.”
